Purpose in Life

Ever since we moved to Texas, I have been looking for some kind of job. Haven't found one yet. I'm either over or under-qualified for pretty much everything. I can't work at any counseling clinics because I don't have a master's degree. All the other "normal" jobs don't require a college degree and so I haven't gotten those jobs. It is soo frustrating. I feel like I'm just drifting, floating. No purpose. No friends here either. I really enjoy the church we've been attending but it has no young married couples. I feel really directionless right now. And I hate that feeling. I like feeling like I am accomplishing something with my life and right now I'm not. I really don't know what to do. I've looked at getting my master's degree online but one I looked at cost $20,000 a year, which is seriously not affordable. I really miss being around people, especially youth. I miss having friends, having a life, having purpose. So that is all of my ramblings for today. Your prayers are welcome.

WE HAVE SNOW!!!

It's snowing!!!! I haven't seen snow in a couple of years. And the last good snow we had in Louisiana, I was at World SALT for XA out in L.A. with Kelly Kirksey. The snow is so pretty. The flakes are huge. It's supposed to snow until this afternoon. I just wish I had a yard to play in, make snow angels, a snowman, basically to act like a kid in. I love the snow, such a beautiful day. The only drawback is here in Fort Worth everything doesn't shut down for snow like it does in Louisiana so Blake had to go in to work. But it's snowing!!! Definitely a nice day.

I'm through with school!!!!! Many of you thought I would never make it. I wondered a bit myself, but I am through. Such wonderful elation. I can't wait to get my brick on Tech campus. I saw this couple taking a picture of a brick this morning. I am going to come back one day and do the same thing. I took my last ever test at Louisiana Tech this morning at 10 a.m. I sold back my books. I bought my cap and gown, which nearly brought me to tears. I think I've called everyone on my cell phone contacts list. So I am through. I think I've become somewhat delirious in my joy. I said I was going to get my master's. Now I wonder. I have no more tests!!! It's such a great feeling and I wanted to share my joy. Take care and God bless.

It also happens to be Blake and mine's 6 month anniversary. I love married life

Tips for Maui:

1. Beware odd tasting tea. The locals like to call it "Mai Thai"

2. It is never a good idea to stand with your back to the waves, even when picking up something an old lady dropped. You will eat sand.

3. Sea turtles make excellent underwater scooters.

4. Apply sunblock everywhere. Legs included.

5. If you have a $50 off coupon, the restaurant will still cost you over $70.

6. Every place is a tourist trap (i.e. paying the hotel where you stay $8/day for parking).

7. Beware local boogie boarders. They have no qualms about running you over.

8. Make up your own Hawaiian song. It provides hours of amusement singing something stupid like "Lahaina Hula Hana Hee-Haw".

These were just a few things I learned on my honeymoon to Maui. It was a great trip. The first of many adventures with my husband. I highly recommend married life.

I got married over the weekend. It went really well. I was nervous that things would go wrong, no one would show up, etc. But it went really well. I thought it looked great even though it didn't look like it was supposed to. I got to hang out with my bridesmaids the night before. We had a blast!!! I had a list of 10 things to do before I could get married. I had to get a stranger to do the macarena, kiss a bald man on top of his head, take a picture with 10 guys (the NM state baseball team worked well), get some guys to sing "You've lost that loving feeling" and a few others. It was great. The next morning I was so tired, though. We had no sleep. We had about an hour and a half with nothing to do before the wedding after we had taken all our pictures, which was nice. The wedding night, I think I was told not to blog about this. Blake's cousin called us at 10 30 that night. We don't know if she was put up to it or not. Then we were awakened to bongo drums at 8 30 the next morning by a small church that has service every Sunday directly beneath our room. The hotel wasn't supposed to rent that room out. So we had the t.v. turned up to cover up the singing and drums then the cable went out. So it was a lot of fun. Not what I ever envisioned. Anyway, that's all the details I'm providing. Oh and our honeymoon is pushed back 2 days because Blake's teacher thinks it's stupid to get married in finals week and that he shouldn't be worried with a honeymoon but with staying home and studying. School is more important than marriage, according to the Nazi professor (he is German, so that Nazi comment may not be off base too much). The wedding went smoothly, but everything else is kinda crazy....
